Engagement & Fees
A disciplined, transparent advisory framework.
Parkes Maritime Advisory works with a small number of private clients on a highly confidential and bespoke basis. Each engagement is structured to ensure clarity, discretion and alignment from the outset, reflecting the complexity and scale of the decisions being undertaken.
All engagements follow a formal advisory framework and are governed by a written Engagement Agreement.
Initial Private Consultation
All PMA client relationships commence with an Initial Consultation.
This phase is designed to define the Client’s objectives and strategic parameters and may include:
• Clarification of ownership objectives and intended use
• Budget and capital parameters
• Vessel size, type and technical considerations
• Build versus acquisition strategy
• Geographic, regulatory and operational context
• Indicative timelines and key risks
The Initial Consultation is conducted on a fixed-fee basis and is payable in advance.
Travel and related expenses are additional.
The Initial Consultation is non-obligational and does not commit either party to a continuing advisory engagement.
Advisory Engagements
Following the Initial Consultation, clients may elect to proceed under a formal Advisory Engagement.
Advisory services may include, but are not limited to:
Vessel search and acquisition strategy
New build advisory and shipyard selection
Design, specification and project oversight
Commercial, operational and lifecycle planning
Stakeholder coordination and independent representation
Advisory engagements are typically structured as:
Monthly retainers, reflecting the scope and duration of the engagement; and/or
Milestone-based or success-based fees, where appropriate and agreed in advance
All fees are clearly defined prior to commencement and documented within the Engagement Agreement.
Expenses & Travel
Where travel or out-of-pocket expenses are required, all costs are:
Incurred strictly on behalf of the Client
Charged at cost
Payable in advance
Travel is undertaken at a standard appropriate to the nature and seniority of the engagement
Confidentiality & Discretion
All engagements are conducted on a strictly confidential basis.
Formal confidentiality provisions are incorporated into every Engagement Agreement to protect client privacy, commercial interests and sensitive information.
Formal Engagement
Parkes Maritime Advisory does not operate on a speculative or informal basis.
All work is governed by a written Engagement Agreement outlining:
Scope of services
Fee structure
Expenses and payment terms
Confidentiality provisions
Professional boundaries and governance
This ensures absolute clarity and alignment for all parties.
